What we collect, and what we don’t

Last updated 3 September 2026

Sideline asks you to sign in with Google. From that we receive your email address and the account identifier Google issues for you. We never receive your Google password, and we never post anything to your account. There is no analytics, tracking or advertising anywhere in Sideline.

On the free plan we store nothing about you on our servers. Signing in is used only to ask whether your account has a subscription; that question is answered and no record of you is kept.

If you subscribe, we store your Google account identifier alongside your subscription status, so Premium works on every device you sign in to.

What is stored, and where

The competition, club and players you pick are saved by your own browser, so your watchlist is there next time you open the panel. That list never reaches us, and uninstalling Sideline removes it.

Your Fantasy Premier League team is imported using your public team ID. We never ask for, receive or store your FPL password.

Network requests

To show live scores, statistics, club badges and player photographs, Sideline requests publicly available football data and images from public sports sources. These requests contain no personal information about you — they are ordinary requests for public sports content, identical to loading a public sports web page. We add no identifiers, and the responses travel directly to your browser; we never receive them.

What Sideline does not do

  • It does not read, access or modify the pages you browse.
  • It has no content script; it runs only inside its own side panel.
  • It uses no cookies, advertising identifiers or third-party analytics.
  • It never receives your Google password, or your Fantasy Premier League password.
  • It does not sell or share data, because there is none to sell.

Permissions, and why

Chrome shows you this list when you install. Every entry below is used for the one thing described beside it, and for nothing else.

  • Sign in with Google — identifies your account, so a subscription follows you to any machine you sign in on.
  • Storage — saves your watchlist and caches match data in your own browser.
  • Side panel — Sideline’s entire interface is Chrome’s side panel; it has no other surface.
  • Alarms — wakes Sideline on a timer to refresh cached data and, for Premium subscribers, to check whether anything alert-worthy has happened.
  • Notifications — shows Premium desktop alerts for goals, assists, cards, injuries and transfer news about the players you track. Alerts only arrive while Chrome is running, and are never used for marketing.

Payments

Premium is sold at $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year. Payments are processed by Paddle acting as merchant of record. Paddle collects an email address and billing details at checkout and processes them under its own privacy policy. Sideline never sees or stores card details, and no payment information passes through the extension.

When you subscribe, we record your Google account identifier, your subscription status and the identifier Paddle issues for the subscription. That is the whole record. Cancelling is handled by Paddle, and the record is what tells Sideline to stop treating your account as Premium.

Children

Sideline is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
